catapults are the most effective trowing weapon of the medieval times. Catapults were made from wood rope, and skin( animal). the most common and the best of designs (my opinion) is the trebuchet. It has a very long throwing arm with a long cord with animal skin shaped as a pouch, and a pivot point in the middle of it with a pivoting weight at the end. to use this you must put the object you are going to throw in the pouch then release the trip wire and done you have the object flying through the air at great speeds until it reaches your target. here is a video of a trebuchet made in England.
In my 2nd year of high school i had to build a model trebuchet in my construction class and we had a competition on who's can throw the hardest but after having started the build have way through the semester we did not have time to fire it but im sure my trebuchet would have won.

axes
Today's post is about axes and how they are used in history and today. Axes were most popular during the medieval times know as a weapon of defense, offense, and also used for public amusement. During the medieval times axes were made from hardened steel or iron. The axes were forged (made from raw steel and heated in the fire till red hot and then beaten into shape) by hand and then tempered again. Tempering is when heating the steel till it is none magnetic then quenching the steel in water, tempering makes the steel harder and less flexible. Tempering also allows the blade to be sharpened and keep its edge for a long time. The most common axe of the medieval times is the Celtic axe this axe only has one side that has a blade but it was still the most common shaped axe. Axes were used as a power weapon to chip or split or chop through things like doors, shields, trees...But some axes like the executioner axe was used for public be-headings, the reason this axe had two blades is because it increased its weight and also during that time their were many be-headings and the axes blades would often get very dull so for this the developed the doubled sided axe so that they wouldn't have to sharpen it as often.

explosives
Hey Today's post is for grenades.Their are many types of grenades and each one is used to do certain tasks. We have had grenades since ww1 and we use them for a bunch of things either to clear tunnels or a mine field in the war zone. The grenades used in the war was used to throw and explode either on impact or a time delay charge, grenades can cause a lot of damage for example in the war they were used to clear out rooms, trenches, or even sand bunkers.there are many different grenade of ww2 but there is only 2 types; fragmentation and overpressure. fragmentation was used for open field and overpressure was used for trenches and closed places and it had less shrapnel the the fragmentation grenade. Every country during the war had their own type of grenade; the USA:"pineapple" grenade, Germany: stick grenade, Great Britain: NO' grenades... If we did not have grenades in the war it would have made things much more difficult and could have change the outcome of the war in the trenches. Well anyways I'm glad for the people who like my posts and are following them thanks and click the follow button.

knives.
Knives are used all the time either when you are cooking or hunting game. Knifes can be made from many different materials including titanium, stainless steel, high carbon steel, and flint... We need knives for many tasks like what i said before cooking like chopping vegetables or cutting meat, we also use knives to use as a weapon. The knife is a very efficient and stealth-like weapon as it is small and you can hide it and knives can have many different blade styles for many applications for cutting or for shredding, or a combination of the two. Their is also double sided blades for piercing. Knives that have very high carbon are very sharp, because te higher the carbon the sharper you can get your knife, in the older days men used to shave with highly sharpened knives but today we adapted to the razor that has a really high carbon thin blade. In ww1 and in ww2 we have used knives to do everyday military tasks either to kill the enemy when out of bullets, to cut the wire fences or boat ropes, or even shave. The most popular knife during ww2 was the Ka-bar, the Ka-bar is very affective as it has a double side blade at the tip for piercing, it has a serrated edge for shredding or for cutting rope, and it has a flat sharp blade for cutting and slashing. The Ka-bar is also my favorite knife for those reasons and because it looks like a cool knife and it is a part of history. Thanks for reading my post and keep coming back to read the ones that come.

medieval sword making(well more modern)

Hey guys this is my 4th official post and this post is about the making or a medieval sword. I know what your saying "wow they didn't even have those machines in the old days" well I know that but its just the concept of it and it basically saves you time of watching a guy pound a piece of metal with annoying pinging sounds for a long time so this skips those steps but if you want to see how the do the shaping of the blade with a hammer then watch the second video(and yes this video doesn't have hammering by hand but it is the same thing, this video is just to show the shaping, hardening and sharpening of the blade).
Swords were among the most popular of the weapons in the period of the medieval ages and also one of the most affective. Swords were used to pierce body armor, and also slice and dice your enemy. Swords offer very good reasons to use it over other weapons of that time, for instance it has more blade surface for cutting, it has a long reach to hit your foes, and also you can make a sword very sharp and strong as it has the cutting power of a knife and the chopping like an axe if used right. This year I am planing on making a sword from and old metal stake. I don't have all the tools in the videos so I will be making it by hand like a blacksmith. My sword design is probably going to be a medieval sword like this one called the Excalibur(at the top of the post). When I'm done making my sword I will post pictures. Stay tuned for my progress on my sword thanks!

fighting( MMA)
We have had fighting for a long time and we still use it today either as a sport, to cause violence or to protect ourselves. There is many ways to use our fists as weapons. This movie is all about MMA(mixed martial arts) and it has every style of fighting we have today. This movie has scenes of a tournament that shows many different styles that show how each style use there fists and feet differently to cause pain to each other or to defend ourselves. This movie resembles the real life of the UFC( ultimate fighting championship). For example at 0:30-0:50 it shows how to use your feet to knock the guy out.also at 3:10-3:20, you can also see how people use submission to take out their opponent. In MMA you find styles that are too fancy and that doesn't work in this sport as this video shows a great example at 3:33-3:45, the guy is to busy jumping around and trying to look good and we finally get closer the other guy just knocks him out cold. My favorite sport is MMA because it takes all anger out and it is a great stress re-leaver. MMA also is the number 1 sport for contact because it is all fighting, not just standing up but you can take your opponent to the ground and beat them up or even choke them out till the tap out. To tap out is when you make your opponent give up by taping the mat or any other thing around them (opponent or themselves), this is called a submission, agreat example is in the clip at 4:55-5:10. MMA is becoming one of the biggest sports today as it is getting more popular as football players are switching over to MMA as it is more of a contact sport.
